Students on Faculty Committees

Students have a participatory function on standing faculty committees within the School of Health Professions and Sciences. Student representatives are facilitated by the Student Government Association and the Faculty Delegate Assembly to serve on the following faculty committees:

  • Academic Affairs
  • Interprofessional Education
  • Community Outreach/Engagement
  • Recruitment and Student Affairs

Educational Technology Student Committee

The Educational Technology Student Committee reviews technology requests and provides for the equitable expenditure of the Technology Fee funds. The committee is composed of a student representative from each of the academic programs. The selection process varies among programs. The committee is advised by a faculty in the School of Allied Health Professions.

Student Organizations and Interested Groups

Club 64: Named in recognition of Louisiana’s 64 parishes, Club 64 celebrates the unique perspectives our students bring to the School of Health Professions and Sciences. The group creates opportunities for students to connect outside of the classroom through events, activities, and service, while also building school spirit and a sense of community. Representatives from each academic program play a key role in shaping the club’s initiatives and engaging their peers.

Student Government Association: Established in 1985, the Student Government Association of the School of Health Professions and Sciences provides a forum for student debate and opinion; to meet the needs of the members through identification, coordinated activity, communication, and fellowship; and to provide an orderly method of colloquy between students and faculty. The SGA is composed of student representatives from each cohort within each academic programs. The selection process varies among programs.

For more information regarding starting a school-affiliated student organization or interest group, please contact the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.

Student Honors Societies

Alpha Eta: The Alpha Eta Honor Society is a national scholastic honor society that serves to promote and recognize significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the allied health professions. Student initiates are nominated by their respective program faculty based on scholastic and leadership abilities reflected in their chosen professions.

Delta Omega: The Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health is a national honor society to recognize outstanding achievements of public health students, faculty, and alumni. Members are inducted by chapters through a highly-selective process that assesses their outstanding performance and devotion to the field.
