Article XII. Amendments

A. Procedure:

  1. The Faculty Bylaws shall be reviewed every three years by the Office of the Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
  2. These bylaws shall automatically stand amended when necessary to concur with policies and bylaws of the LSU system and state and federal laws and regulations. Such amendments shall be brought to the attention of the faculty.
  3. Upon the endorsement of the Administrative Council, these bylaws shall stand amended when necessary to adhere to a new or modified accreditation requirement as promulgated by an accrediting body for a single specific issue.

If a resolution to amend is passed by a simple majority of members present, the Secretary of the Faculty Senate shall present the amendment(s) in writing with a ballot to the voting faculty within ten days. Ratification of the proposed amendments will be accomplished by paper or electronic ballot with passage requiring three-fifths majority of those eligible faculty members who participated in the vote.
  5. Unless vetoed by a Dean, the Chancellor, or the President, the ratified amendment(s) shall become a part of the Faculty Bylaws following written notification of the faculty’s action.
